BILLY GRAHAM
WEEPS FOR AMERICA
By Pastor Max Solbrekken, D.D.
In a prerecorded sermon titled ‘My Hope America’ which was aired on Fox News recently, the 94 years-old ‘Soldier of the Cross’, Dr. Billy Graham declared: "Our country's in great need of a spiritual awakening. There have been times that I've wept as I've gone from city to city and I've seen how far people have wandered from God.”
Billy Graham is a true servant of God and compassion for the lost and dying is one of the trademarks of a genuine ‘man of God’. In his book, The Reason for My Hope: Salvation, he states that all the SIGNS given by Jesus Christ regarding His Return have converged at this time and have been fulfilled.
He wrote: “A new world is coming. The paradise that humanity lost in the Garden of Eden will be regained. Regardless of what society says, we can’t go on much longer in the sea of immorality without judgment coming. We are at the crossroads and there are profound moral issues at stake. It is time to return to Biblical truth.”
Recently, Israeli Prime Minister BENYAMIN NETANYAHU told the United Nations General Assembly that “Biblical Prophecies are being realized”, when referring to the unrelenting advance the terrorist State of Iran has made in pursuit of Nuclear weapons with which to destroy Israel! And one of the most intelligent and godly women in the USA Congress, Michelle Bachmann, recently stated: “When you see up is down and right is wrong, when this is happening, we are told this: That these days would be as the Days of Noah.”
It is no wonder Billy Graham has wept over America! A number of years ago, he prayed this prayer: “Lord, do it again! Do what you did when the Apostles were called. Do what you did following Pentecost. Do what you did for Saul of Tarsus, Augustine, Luther, Whitfield, John Wesley and William booth. Lord, do it again and help us to win the world for Christ.”
                                    JESUS WEPT OVER JERUSALEM!
The Holy Scriptures record how our Saviour’s heart was broken over the city of Jerusalem. He had been sent from Heaven on a Divine Mission and they rejected Him. He stated that great judgment was coming because they did not recognize “the day of their visitation”.
JESUS knew what would befall JERUSALEM! The Bible states: “And when He was come near, He beheld the city and wept over it, Saying, if thou had known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! But now they are hid from thine eyes.
“For the days shall come upon thee, that thy enemies shall cast a trench about thee. And compass thee round, and keep thee on every side, and shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.” (Luke 19: 37-44)
WHAT DID HE MEAN? What was Jesus referring to?  We learn two things from His prayer: Firstly, they had rejected the Prince of Peace, who had come to Jerusalem ‘the City of Peace’ to show them the way to peace. And secondly, the most horrendous judgment would befall them and Jerusalem because of their sins!
Jerusalem is “the city of our God.” (Ps. 48: 1,8) It is also called ‘the city of Zion’, where Almighty God said He would place His name. (Daniel 9:19).  Jerusalem is mentioned nearly 800 times in the Bible and is called “the city of the great King” (Matt.5:35). And, Yahweh is called, the God of Israel.”
AN INTERESTING POINT: The Mohammedans claim the Holy City, yet it is not once named in the Koran, and when they pray facing Mecca their posteriors are turned toward Jerusalem!
May God have MERCY on 'turncoat preachers' who hate Israel and Jews and the spiritually blind religious and political leaders who have in their 'Alice in Wonderland Theology' thumbed their noses at God and independently created the Monster called Chrislam! Repent before it is too late!
Jesus Christ left the glories of Heaven to come to this sin-cursed world for the express purpose of redeeming mankind. The Bible says: “He came unto His own, and His own received Him not. But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name.” (John 1: 11,12)
GOD'S JUDGMENT FELL IN 70 A.D. Jewish historian FLAVIUS JOSEPHUS chronicled Jerusalem’s destruction: And indeed the multitude of carcasses that lay in heaps one upon another was a horrible sight, and produced a pestilential stench, which was a hinderance to those that would make sallies out of the city, and fight the enemy: but as those were to go in battle-array, who had been already used to ten thousand murders, and must tread upon those dead bodies as they marched along.”
In his amazing book, The War of the Jews, 6.2 he reports: “A trench - a rampart first of wood and when it was burnt, a built wall, four miles in circuit, built in three days – so determined were they. This ‘cut off’ all hope of escape and consigned the city to unpatrolled horrors.”
More than one million Jews died in the Roman destruction of Jerusalem. Eighty nine thousand were taken as slaves and shipped by boats to Egypt, as no other country would buy a Jewish slave. Moses had warned them in Deuteronomy that this would happen if they broke the covenant he had made with the Almighty God on their behalf! (Deut. 28: 68)
                         DR. HYMAN APPELMAN ON TEARS!
In 1972, we had the privilege of having Dr. Hyman Appelman in our Church in Edmonton, Alberta for an entire week. The meetings were baptized in tears and in the power of the Holy Spirit. Billy Graham said: Dr. Hyman Appelman is one of the most powerful preachers I have heard.” Here is an excerpt from one of his messages:
“No great revival ever began without that repentance and confession. Judgment must begin at the House of the Lord – with yourself and myself, dear fellow Christian. How can we expect sinners to get right if we ourselves who claim to be the children of God are not right? We must empty our hearts if we expect God to fill them.
“Oh, brethren! Oh, sisters! We must pray! We must pray alone; we must pray in groups; we must come to the prayer meetings; we must pray in the secrecy of our own closets. We must pray for ourselves. We must agonize for each other. We must intercede for our Christian leaders and workers!
We must baptize our communities, our cities, our nation, this world, in an ocean of INTERCESSORY TEARS – as we plead the promises of God and the blood of Jesus Christ for the salvation of a lost world rushing on to hell. We must pray down a soul-saving revival!”
LEONARD RAVENHILL wrote: “The greatest tragedy is a sick Church in a dying world. If Jesus had preached like many preachers today, they never would have crucified Him.”
WILLIAM BOOTH said: “The thing I fear for the next century is that there will be Religion without the Holy Ghost, Christianity without Christ, Salvation without Regeneration, Forgiveness without Repentance, Politics without God and Heaven without Hell.”
RICHARD BAXTER, the old Puritan preacher said: “I preach like a dying man to dying men. Every time I preach, I preach as if it were the last time I would preach.”
JOHN KNOX said: “Give me Scotland or I die! And God in His mercy kept Scotland free from the Papists!
JESUS CHRIST said: “Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? Behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.” (John 4: 35)
THE BIBLE says: “They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing the precious SEED, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.” (Psalm 126: 5,6)
Our Lord stated: "This Gospel of the Kingdom shall be preached in all the world as a WITNESS to all Nations and then shall the end come." (Mathew 24: 14) We have no time to waste.
MARTIN LUTHER said: "I live as though Jesus Christ died yesterday, arose today and is coming again tomorrow." The great Reformer lived so near the Lord that it was like yesterday he heard Jesus Christ from the CROSS cry 'tetelestai'; taken from the greek verb teleo with essential meaning, 'It is finished; it is fulfilled; it is paid'.
It was like yesterday that LUTHER visited Christ's empty grave! And if He is returning tomorrow, he had better get started immediately because he only have 24 hours to get the job done! Martin Luther's philosophy of ministry and his worldview coupled with the Gifts of the Spirit working in his life made him the unique Leader he was! May God fill also us all to overflowing with His blessed Holy Spirit!
