GREATER IS THE HOLY SPIRIT                       by Pastor Max Solbrekken, D.D. 

“Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they be of God: because many false prophets have come into the world. Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God.

“And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist; whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

“Ye are of God, little children and have overcome them: because greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world. They are of the world: therefore, speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.

GOD’S LOVE SENT JESUS TO THE CROSS

“We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the Spirit of truth and the spirit of error. Beloved, let us Love one another: for love is of God; and everyone that loveth is born of God and knoweth God. He that loveth not, knoweth not God, for God is love.

“In this was manifested the love of God toward us because He sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. Herein is LOVE, not that we loved God, but that He loved us, and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and His Love is us. Hereby know we that we dwell in Him, and He in us because He has given us of His Spirit.” (1 John 4:1-13)

SATAN IS THE ENEMY OF GOD AND MAN!

A constant battle is being fought for the souls of men.  Ever since the tragic fall of Adam and Eve, Satan has continued his evil agenda of hatred, perversion, and enslavement.  He is a liar, false accuser, and murderer.  He is the Enemy of God and man! 

The Bible says: "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the Devil, as a roaring lion walketh about, seeking whom he may devour; whom resist steadfast in the faith...." (1 Peter 5:8-9) 

"Submit yourselves therefore to God.  Resist the Devil, and he will flee from you.  Draw nigh to God, and He will draw nigh to you..." (James 4:7-8) 

Jesus said: "Ye are of your father, the devil, and the lusts of your fathers ye will do.  He was a Murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him.  When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a LIAR and the father of it." (John 8:44) 

Our Lord stated: "The thief (the devil) cometh not but for to steal, kill, and destroy:  I am come that they might have LIFE, and that they might have it more abundantly.  And ye shall know the Truth and the truth shall make you free.  If the SON therefore shall make you FREE, ye shall be free indeed." (John 8:32,36) 

DESTROYING SATAN'S WORKS ! 

The Bible says, "How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power who went about doing good, and healing all who were oppressed of the Devil, for God was with Him."  (Acts 10:38) 

Satan had oppressed the people with sin, fear, sickness, disease, and torment! Jesus Christ God’s Son forgave them, healed them and liberated them from the cruelty of the Enemy of God and man. The word Satan means Opposer and Enemy. The word Devil means LIAR. The Evil, Wicked Lucifer was cast out of Heaven after committing High Treason and Transgression against Almighty God and Creator!

The Bible says: "For this purpose the Son of God was manifested to Destroy the works of the devil." (1 John 3:28) 

"For in Him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.  And ye are complete in Him, which is the head of  all principality and power… Buried with Him in baptism, wherein also ye are also are risen with Him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised Him from the dead. 

"And you....hath He quickened together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses: Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to His cross; And having spoiled principalities and powers, He made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it." (Colossians 2:9-15) 

"Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, He also Himself likewise took part of the same; that through Death He might Destroy him that had the power of death, that is the Devil; And Deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage." (Hebrews 2:14, 15) 

SATAN IS A MURDERER & LIAR 

There was no death in the Garden of Eden until the lying Devil deceived our first parents and they believed his lies and disobeyed their Creator and God!  Satan is responsible for the death of the entire world.  That is his cruel, insane, and wicked legacy! 

Jesus stated: "He was a murderer from the beginning..." (John 8:44). By Adam and Eve's disobedience sin entered into the world and death through sin.  Ever since that tragic day, the human race has been under the judgment of God. 

The Bible says: "In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground, for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art and unto dust shalt thou return." (Genesis 3:19); "And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment." (Hebrews 9:27)

WE IN HIM & HE IN US

Jesus said: "If ye shall ask anything in My name, I will do it.  If ye love Me, keep My commandments.  And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you forever, even the Spirit of Truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth Him not, neither knoweth Him: but ye know Him: for He dwelleth with you and shall be in you. 

"I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you...because I live, ye shall live also.  At that day ye shall know that I am in My Father, and ye in Me and I in you...If a man love Me, He will keep My words: and My Father will love him,  and we will come and make our abode with him.

“He that loveth Me keepeth my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not Mine, but the Father's which sent me....but the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, which the Father will send in My name.  He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remember whatsoever I have said unto you." (John 14:14-26)

"If ye abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ye shall ASK what ye will, and it shall be done unto you."  (John 15:7)

“Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us, and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Hereby know we that we dwell in Him, and He in us, because He hath given us of His Spirit. And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent His Son to be the Saviour of the world. Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in Him, and He in God.” (1 John 4: 1-4, 6-15) 

The Bible says, "For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds: Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every though to the obedience of Christ." (2 Corinthians 10:4,5) 

"So shall they fear the Name of the Lord from the west, and His glory from the rising of the sun.  When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of God shall lift up a standard against him." (Isaiah 59:19). The Holy Spirit stands up against the Enemy of our souls. The STANDARD He lifts to protect us is the BLOOD OF JESUS! He stops Satan with the Word of God and the Name of Jesus Christ!

Again St. John declares: "Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them (demon spirits): because GREATER is He (Holy Spirit) that is in you than he (Satan) that is in the world." (1 John 4:4)  Amen.
