    DOUBLE PORTIONHeritage Camp Music

Canada’s Double Portion from North Battleford, Saskatchewan is a unique group in many ways. This 5 piece Gospel band is made up of entirely one family including parents Duncan & Debbie Hemmerling and 9 of their 10 children. Juggling homework and musical instruments is a daily routine for the Hemmerling children. They trade in riding the school bus for riding across the country in Canada’s Double Portion tour bus for almost half the year.
2017 marks the 35th year of ministry for this veteran group. Originating with Duncan and his three sisters, Canada’s Double Portion has crisscrossed the continent from Newfoundland to British Columbia, Georgia to Alaska. Three decades of travel have provided unique experiences like singing on the Grand Ole’ Opry stage, backing up Johnny & June Cash at a Cash/Rivers family reunion and performing with many of Gospel music’s premier groups at North America’s largest events. However, experience has taught this family that the smaller things in life are often the most rewarding!
Canada's Double Portion have been nominated for Group of the Year numerous times and have received multiple awards for Album, Song of the Year and Live Band of the Year in the Gospel Music Association Canada. Tours in 2017 are taking them to events like Southwest Gospel Fest in Phoenix, AZ, "Preacher in the Patch" crusades throughout the North Central U.S., the Canadian Gospel Music Celebration in Red Deer, AB and concerts across the U.S. and Canada. They continue to see children's lives changed through their partnership with Compassion Canada and are heard on the radio airwaves through the 1/2 radio program Foursquare Gospel Tidings. When home, the bus wheels keep turning, as the oldest 4 siblings travel with their own band The Kinns and share with youth & young adults across Canada and the U.S.
