WHERE WOULD I
BE WITHOUT JESUS?
By Pastor Max Solbrekken, D.D.
A Gospel song carries these beautiful words: “Where would I be without Jesus? Where would I spend eternity? I would be lost in this world, full of sorrows. Without Jesus, where would I be?
1). Where would I be without the mercy of God? Without His love and grace? I would be lost and doomed forever!
2). Where would I be without the great sacrifice of Christ on Calvary’s Cross? Without the shedding of His pure and holy blood? I would be a lost and condemned sinner!
3). Where would I be without His glorious resurrection from the dead that guarantees our eternal life? I would have no hope in this world or the next; Doomed forever in a Christ-less eternity together with the world’s greatest terrorists, murderers, thieves, liars, perverts, Satan, the Antichrist and False Prophet!
4). Where would I be without God’s revealed will unto man, the Holy Bible, God’s sacred Word? What could I do without the Holy Scriptures that makes one wise unto salvation? How could I survive without God’s divine, holy, infallible and inspired Word which is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path, in short a road map to Heaven? I would be a doomed soul probably looking in great sadness to the writings of men and their failed philosophies and theosophies, lost forever!
5). Where would I be without Jesus Christ, the world’s greatest Freedom Fighter, Who liberated the human race through His vicarious, substitutionary death on Golgotha’s Hill and His death dealing victory over Satan, the enemy of God and man? Where would I be without the blessed Holy Spirit of God Who fills us, comforts us and leads us into all truth, power and liberty?  I would be a slave to the empty philosophies of men, the dog-eat-dog approach of the business community, the propaganda of the politicians, the lies of the evolutionists and the damnable teachings of false religionists who prey on the vulnerable and ignorant!
I AM AT REST KNOWING WHOSE I AM!
St. Paul wrote: “For I know Whom I have believed, and am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I have committed unto Him against that day.” (2 Tim. 1: 12); “For there stood by me this night the angel of God, Whose I am and Whom I serve.” (Acts 27: 23)
The Bible states: “What, know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.” (1 Cor. 6: 19, 20)
I am God’s property, God’s dwelling and His servant to do His bidding. Like John the Baptist, I must decrease and He must increase. Our Master said: “Without Me Ye can do nothing.” (John 15: 5)
St. Paul explained: “For I know that in me (that is in my flesh) dwells NO GOOD THING: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.” (Rom.7: 18) That is precisely why Jesus Christ said: “Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man is born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God.
“Except a man be born of water (God’s Word washes) and of the Spirit (Holy Spirit) he cannot enter the Kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.” (John 3: 3-7)
St Peter also stated: “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the WORD of God, which lives and abides forever. (1 Peter 1: 22)
I feel myself most privileged that I am called “a child of God, an heir of God and a joint heir with Christ” (Romans 8: 14-17) and that I have “been accepted in the Beloved.” (Eph.1:6) And all of that, not because I have done anything to deserve it, but because of His great love for me and His mercy and grace for sinners such as I. (Eph.2: 8, 9)
To God be the glory forever and ever in the Name of Jesus Christ our Lord! (Galatians 1: 3-5) Amen.
